I'm a counsellor with a private practice in the heart of Totnes. I help people experiencing a range of issues, and specialise in anxiety, depression and low self-esteem. I offer therapy face to face and online via Zoom.
If you’re struggling or finding things difficult, you’re not alone. According to the WHO, anxiety and depression remain the greatest health issues facing us worldwide. Even mild symptoms can seriously impair our enjoyment of life and sense of wellbeing. Things don’t have to be really bad in order to seek help. Counselling can be hugely beneficial for simply being able to share whatever’s going on for you with someone who understands you and can support you.
I work with a range of issues, including panic, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, trauma, loneliness, isolation, self-harm, grief, difficult relationships and addiction. Perhaps you're feeling stuck or overwhelmed; lost, alone or disconnected; frustrated or disillusioned with life; or that you lack purpose or meaning in your life. Maybe you don't really know what the problem is. Maybe you just want to offload onto someone, and that's fine too!
My aim is to provide a warm, safe, supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings or difficulties. It’s an opportunity to understand yourself better and see things more clearly. I can help you reconnect with your own personal strengths, values and goals, and work out what's important to you. I can help you start to make the changes you want to make in your life. I can help you work through difficult thoughts and feelings, understand how they affect you and your relationships, and find ways to manage them better so that they have less impact on your life and wellbeing.
We can often be quite unkind to ourselves - judging, blaming or criticising ourselves for things that have happened, or for the way we think and feel. I can help you find ways to ease your inner critic, so that you feel better about yourself and your worth as a human being. I believe we all have the capacity to grow as individuals, and to feel more content and at ease in ourselves and in our lives.
